A Handful Of Stars
Loosely based on Hans Christian Andersons " The Little Match Girl " this is the poignant story of the young girl forced to walk the streets selling matches to earn her keep. The story has been cleverly adapted to give insights to the Victorian way of life. This is a challenging play, punctuated with beautiful, lyrical tunes as well as several foot-tapping numbers. When recently performed by a local youth group it received excellent press reviews " all the songs were superb, with lovely melodies and harmonies. " " immediately memorable "The play, aimed at 11 to 18 year olds, and amateur groups offers great opportunities for character acting and for those looking for something that offers a bit of a challenge. Many of the songs have powerful lyrics that relate perfectly to the storyline.
The setting of the show, whilst being fairy tale in its basis, offers great scope for the art department.
