Prologue - The Iceberger Factory
The show opens in the Iceberger Factory, where the 'Icebergers' - loyal servants of the Snow Queen - boast about their success in turning more and more hearts to ice. With their 'filter glasses' firmly on, they celebrate another day of icy conversions and hail their mysterious, powerful Queen in the opening number, We Are The Icebergers.
Scene One - A Secret Location
Meanwhile, in a hidden corner of the town, a group of rebellious kids - The Icicles - secretly plot to resist the Snow Queen's growing influence. As they chant their defiance in the Icicles Chants, their meeting is thrown into chaos when Kai mysteriously falls under the Queen's spell and vanishes. Gerda vows to bring him back, setting the stage for her epic journey.
Scene Two - Granny's House
Back at home, Granny and Auntie do their best to keep Gerda 'safe' from the dangers beyond the river, but Gerda is restless and determined to find her missing friend. After a heartfelt ballad, Somewhere Beyond The River, Gerda seizes her chance, sneaks away, and sets off into the unknown.
Scene Three - The River
Gerda faces her first challenge - crossing the treacherous river that separates her home from the wider world. With the help of her loyal companion, Crow, and a little courage, she makes it across. On the other side, everything feels strange and new, and her incredible adventure truly begins.
Scene Four - The Spring Garden
Gerda stumbles into a magical garden where a host of Roses and a quirky gardener welcome her warmly. The garden's enchantment tempts her to forget her quest, but the arrival of a larger-than-life trainer puts everyone through their paces during the Witch's Workout. Remembering Kai, Gerda finds the strength to move on, leaving the comfort of the garden behind.
Scene Five - The Summer Court
Gerda next encounters the extravagant Summer Court, led by the flamboyant Queen Yarooh. In a burst of fun and colour, the court sing the lively Yarooh Hooray. Tempted to stay and bask in the attention, Gerda nearly loses sight of her quest. With a timely reminder of who she is, she escapes and presses forward.
Scene Six - The Autumn Forest
Deep in the wild Autumn Forest, Gerda meets a rough-and-tumble band of Robbers. They welcome her with the boisterous Open Sesame. Though the gang is rowdy, Gerda earns their respect - and an unlikely ally in Tea Leaf - and continues her journey toward the Winter Palace.
Scene Seven - The Winter Palace
At last, Gerda reaches the icy domain of the Snow Queen. In a chilling opening, the court perform Frozen Kingdom, revealing the depth of her icy power and Kai's frozen heart. Gerda's courage and love melt the Queen's magic and free Kai. The company unites in the uplifting finale, We Belong Together, celebrating that - no matter where we come from - we all belong.
Below we have provided three suggested casting variations — for 71, 52 and 26 performers to help you tailor the production to your available cast size, without compromising on the story, character arcs or musical content.

Multi Rolling Suggested Cast List For 26 Performers
* Indicates solo singing parts in a song. Number in brackets shows the number of spoken lines across all parts.
When performing Defrosted with this cast number, we would suggest you keep all performers on the side or back of the stage at all times. None of the scenes are reliant on sets to set the location, instead they rely on character. Encourage your performers to make their characters really different from each other (different accents, different physicalities or body language, different pace of delivery, different voice pitch etc.). When you have a distinct character, a simple indicator of character will work for the costumes. E.g. A performer may wear a neutral costume but put on sunglasses when an Iceberger, a petal headdress when performing as a rose and a soldier's hat when performing as a Major or Private.
