On the Trail of the One Blue Sock is a simple tale of in the form of a poem with lively, fun songs added to spice up the performance. Every day objects (a boxing glove, a shower, a clotheshorse, a microwave, an iron and a water timer etc) become colourful characters as our hero searches through the house for a single blue sock that has gone missing.

In the search for the one blue sock we find that 'life is much better being a pair' and 'things are always where you put them'. This is surely good advice for everyone. Additionally just 'being friends is all we ever need' is another poetical message, which would stand anyone in good stead. Everyone can join in the stampede and the search with their friends for new friends.

On the trail of the One Blue Sock finds different characters helping each other and being successful in their collective search. The chorus should perform alongside the action adding their voices to the plot and sharing the adventure.
For something completely different, this musical is it. ‘On the Trail of the One Blue Sock’ tells the story in song and rhyme of a young boy/girl on the hunt for a missing sock. ‘Tick Tock’ opens the show as the storyteller sets the scene for this dramatic tale! ‘Wild and Wooly Day’ is then sung as the storyteller explains how the child went to put on socks one day, only to discover that one had gone.

‘Here and There’ is sung as the hunt for the sock begins, followed by ‘Fist, Palm, Clench, Shake’ as the boy/girl comes across in the clothes store one glove which is also missing a partner. Together the two of them continue the trail, eventually coming across a clothes-horse who is eager to help them. ‘One Blue Sock Stampede’ is sung as the quest for the missing sock continues, gradually gathering more investigators!

As the three of them approach the bathroom they stumble across a water-timer who explains his daily task during ‘The Timer tick-tock.’ As he addresses them, without realising the timer drops a hint and the child suddenly realises where the one blue sock is – in the mess beside the bed! ‘Here and There’ is sung as the boy/girl discovers the sock underneath a pile of other clothes and much to the glove’s delight, he too finds his other half behind the water spout. ‘One Blue Sock Stampede’ is sung as everything that was once lost is now found.

Great tunes and a very interesting poetical presentation. The kids were soon singing along to the musical ideas. Anything that encourages friendship and putting things away at the same time can't be bad! Good luck.
